Coral Reefs are underwater structures built by tiny creatures. These reefs cover only a small part of the tropical sea beds, but the reefs are home to large and complex ecosystems. Those ecosystems in turn are essential to the health of all the oceans. Climate Change, pollution and some fishing practices are threatening the world's reefs.
Build a coral reef diorama in Sculpey. Then make Sculpey snails, sponges, urchins, turtles and colorful fish whose future is entwined with the health of the reef.
The Workshop will adopt a portion of a reef off the Bahamas, a Nature Conservancy initiative to restore and defend essential resources. See their website and information about their Reef Relief donations here: http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/habitats/coralreefs/index.htm
With Hannah Clark and Aru Rajeevan, guest Sculpey experts.
